Kornfeld im Sommer

Synopsis

Once upon a time in Europe ...
What happened in the German-Polish border region in 1992? One thing is certain: there were two deaths. And there was a fire. The rest is mercifully covered by twenty years of everyday life in a growing Europe - democracy and prosperity for all. For everyone? The year is 2012 and migrants all over Europe are hiring themselves out for harvest work, but there is less and less to do. Romanian migrant worker Adriana is struggling to keep her family alive and makes a desperate decision: she travels to Germany in search of her father's murderer. Election summer in the municipality of Kollwitz. What the district needs is stability and peaceful competition. What it certainly doesn't need is a dangerous stranger who brings the people's soul to the boil. And a lynch-mob is already gathering outside the prison ... Mattie Junghans, the woman without a fixed life plan, is herself a border crosser between different worlds. And she quickly realizes that the key to the current case lies in the past. She follows the trail of Roma families across Europe, whose loss is still unatoned for.
